Year 10 Media Studies Project: A Simulation of BBC News Reporting
In an ambitious endeavor for our Year 10 Media Studies curriculum, my colleagues—Guande Cen and Luke Terri—and I, Jordan Bantleman, took on specialized roles to recreate the intricate dynamics of a BBC News broadcast. This portfolio entry serves as a comprehensive demonstration of our collective efforts and individual contributions towards understanding and executing broadcast journalism with a global perspective.
Under the framework of this project, Luke Terri assumed the role of the anchor, orchestrating the flow of the news broadcast with professionalism and poise. Guande Cen and I took on the roles of correspondents, with Guande reporting from South Korea and myself as the Sydney correspondent, providing regional insights and enhancing the broadcast's international scope. Our goal was to mirror the BBC's editorial standards and production quality, emphasizing the importance of diverse viewpoints in news reporting.
The entire process, from initial research and script development to filming and post-production, was a collaborative effort. I took the lead in editing the final compilation, ensuring that each segment seamlessly transitioned into the next, maintaining the broadcast's coherence and dynamic pace.
This video is not just a testament to our ability to navigate the complexities of news production but also highlights our dedication to presenting news with accuracy, depth, and a sense of global responsibility. It is a key showcase of our skills in journalism and media production, reflecting our potential to contribute meaningfully to the media industry.
We invite educators, media professionals, and peers to view our simulation, offering insights and feedback that could further our development in this field. Your support and guidance are invaluable as we continue to refine our craft and explore the vast landscape of broadcast journalism.
